"Don’t let emotions control your life"
What is Dialectical Behavior Therapy?
It is a skill based treatment, that is one in which specific skills to help people cope effectively with distressing thoughts, feelings and behaviors. The therapy is designed to enhance skills already known and teach new ones to replace those no longer working.
We work with you to identify the barriers that block you from achieving your goals—whether it is to cope more effectively with feeling, change ineffective behaviors, learn to problem solving or learn ways to accept things that simply can’t be changed.
How does it Work?
Skills are taught in 4 modules (sets) each with their own sets of homework (ways to apply the skills in real life).
Module 1: Core Mindfulness: learning to recognize when we
are in our feeling, thinking or combined state "wise mind". Understanding how
acting from each mind state has significant impact on ourselves, others and
situations.
Module 2: Distress Tolerance: have you ever felt so overwhelmed
that you did something in the short term to relieve the pressure, but regretted
it later? Here we teach how to tolerate the moment, not make impulsive
decisions, be more effective in the long run .
Module 3 Interpersonal Effectiveness: here we teach you how to
get what you want and need in relationships without sacrificing the relationship
